HomeGirl Cafe in Los Angeles...

Aubrey and GranMa Tere, walking the streets of LA...

 Clowning around...

Nice summer dress and a big smile...

Enjoying the shade before we start walking again...

Wondering why people are dressed so weird...Cholo's

She's 4 1/2 and not 5....til July...

Spent the afternoon with Aubrey and my Mom in downtown LA...

El Pueblo de La Reina de Los Angeles...

We decided to visit the HomeGirl Cafe that we hear so much about. They help out kids that are in the gang life and try to get their lives turned around. It's Father Boyle, who started this a number of years ago and it is so successful...

The place is pretty neat but I didn't like that there are so many kids just hanging around. It made going to the cafe a bit daunting, the workers have probably never worked at restaurants and were not very friendly and the service was missing. I felt that the prices were a bit high, all specialty foods and it didn't feel like a mexican food place...No beans or mexican rice...what kinda of place is this?

I got Aubrey to cooperate just a bit for some pictures, she loved seeing all the people and listening to my Mom and I speak about the homeless and the cholo's...must have been pretty exciting for her...went back home and had arroz con leche, jello, bean burritos...what a day...pulling weeds from GranMa's front yard...
