What a great way to invite everyone to Easter Brunch...Maria Elena does her promotions with picture's of the family. This year she asked me to do the card and this is what we came up with. If you're in Orange County, visit the El Ranchito in Costa Mesa on Placentia.

The President is coming to Orange County, Costa Mesa we think...I start calling all the people I know and no tickets...Margie found 2 tickets and for a minute I was on stand-by because Maria Elena was feeling a bit ill and might not go...I felt lucky but really prayed that she would feel better because of such a special event. Maria Elena recovered and had an unforgettable time.

Sunday Brunch...La Cuaresma...Lent

Capirotada brings back memories of being at my Mami Lupe's house..I didn't understand Lent, ashes on your forehead on Wednesday, I don't think I ever gave up anything...Camarones con nopales...capirotada, then it was Easter Sunday and the egg hunt. I remember Roosevelt Park and Redondo Beach pier, did I forget to mention all of my cousins, we have so many great family memories.

Spent the afternoon with my Mom, Margie and my uncle Johnny. It was so good to see that the Ranchito was busy and had a waiting list most of the day. The food brings everyone in but the family atmosphere keeps them coming back week after week. My Mom was excited when little Johnny told her that about 5 families had asked if she was Margarita, La Dueña...She loved it...

Out and about this morning, this is in front of ProPhoto in Irvine. It's a professional photo developing shop and I'm trying to get some advice. Yeah, Eddie the photographer caught me while I'm taking a breath...I made it to Newport Back Bay right after this and I took a bunch of photo's that I'll post when I stitch them together...here is one great flower from the bay...

Just got the news..Niki is having a baby...GIRL!!!

Niki called and brought over the Ultrasound, we scanned it and she's putting the picture on her blog...in a few minutes. Last week we spent the day with my Tia Margarita and celebrated her life and all that she does for us and now were starting a whole new generation...

Life goes on and rewards us in so many special ways.

What a great time we had in Newport Beach, celebrating My Tia Margarita's 84th birthday...And with all the kids, that's 4 generations...The flowers were beautiful, the rain disappeared when the party started, the food was great and when it was time to sing...we all pitched in and were able to carry the song, Las Mañanita's with the help of a scorecard. And then to top it all off...the Sunset was a blast. Felicidades Tia, la queremos mucho...

Was going to take my Mom to Philippe's in downtown for a French-dipped sandwich but Margie visited my Mom and we ended up going to La Casita in Maywood. They serve Mexican food but with indigenous recipes, that means that the recipes are Aztec indian based....Just kidding...They have great food with lots of distinct flavors...Just remember, El Ranchito in HP is our favorite!!!

Went out with Eddie and took some photo's at Irvine Park and Irvine Lake, saw a few deer and an eagle that had a fish in it's tongs...Pretty neat...Then I went to Newport Beach Pier to get a few more pic's. Sorry, no blue water, it is dirty because of all the rain.
