HomeGirl Cafe in Los Angeles...

Aubrey and GranMa Tere, walking the streets of LA...

 Clowning around...

Nice summer dress and a big smile...

Enjoying the shade before we start walking again...

Wondering why people are dressed so weird...Cholo's

She's 4 1/2 and not 5....til July...

Spent the afternoon with Aubrey and my Mom in downtown LA...

El Pueblo de La Reina de Los Angeles...

We decided to visit the HomeGirl Cafe that we hear so much about. They help out kids that are in the gang life and try to get their lives turned around. It's Father Boyle, who started this a number of years ago and it is so successful...

The place is pretty neat but I didn't like that there are so many kids just hanging around. It made going to the cafe a bit daunting, the workers have probably never worked at restaurants and were not very friendly and the service was missing. I felt that the prices were a bit high, all specialty foods and it didn't feel like a mexican food place...No beans or mexican rice...what kinda of place is this?

I got Aubrey to cooperate just a bit for some pictures, she loved seeing all the people and listening to my Mom and I speak about the homeless and the cholo's...must have been pretty exciting for her...went back home and had arroz con leche, jello, bean burritos...what a day...pulling weeds from GranMa's front yard...

Erika is 30...AGAIN!!!

Erika and Aubrey...

 Surpried by the waitresses...

We celebrated Erika's birthday on Tuesday night at El Ranchito in Costa Mesa...

I wanted to surprise Erika with the munchkin...

I picked up Aubrey at school and we went to Party City where she picked out a few of her favorite colored birthday balloons...had a hard time deciding which colors to get Erika but she knew she wanted one for herself and it had to be PINK...

Went to my house to get cleaned up and had a Hagen-Daz ice cream bar...Aubreys favorite!!!

Once at the Ranch, we waited in my van til Erika arrived and we let her walk in so we could surprise her with the balloons...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I left Aubrey's pink guitar in the van...she wanted to strum while she sang the song...

We had a great dinner and then the girls brought us the frozen ice cream and put Panchita's hat on Erika and we all sang Happy Birthday...Aubrey was totally surprised...She loves blowing out the candle but I think she was caught off-guard...Great smiles on Erika and Aubrey...

Train Station adventure...

Aubrey...smiling her way into adventures...

I spent the afternoon with Aubrey at the Fullerton Train Station / Downtown...

The Arts District...

It's been a while since we have gone photo shooting but as always, once I bribe her, she's a trooper...A cup cake with Oreo cookie sprinkles, just the icing Ma'am...then it's off to the park and the slides...and now...

Aubrey's into bean burritos with cheese...hello Del Taco...
